Boots or shoes with a clearly defined heel and long pants must be worn while in the arena.
A western saddle must be used while in the arena.
Use of any illegal substance of any kind is strictly prohibited on the grounds. One warning will be given; any repeat offense will result in automatic dismissal of the rider and/or guest(s). No points or refund will be given to the rider for that day.
The use of profanity or abusive language by any contestant will result in disqualification from that event and could result in disqualification from the entire event.
The contestant shall have one minute to be at the gate of the arena after his/her name is called. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from that event.
It is the responsibility of the rider to understand the pattern of each event ridden.
There will be no running of a horse outside the arena, with the exception of inside the warm up arena, and then only for the purpose of warming up the horse (no racing or reckless running). There will be no running into or out of the arena. This is for the safety of all riders and animals.
There will be no refunds after entries are paid.
If a timer failure occurs, the rider has the option of up to two re-rides. If during the first re-ride an obstacle is knocked over, the rider may take a second re-ride. If the second re-ride is taken, it voids the first re-ride and the rider must take the time given during the second re-ride. When the first re ride is successful (no obstacles were knocked over) the rider is required to take that time and a second re-ride is not allowed.
Any act of discourtesy or disobedience toward any Event Official, in and out of the arena, will result in disqualification for the duration of the Event.
Any discrepancies in times or patterns must be brought to the attention of the arena judges immediately (prior to the pattern change).
After crossing the timer, a rider has a maximum of two minutes to complete the pattern and exit the arena.
A rider may ride a different horse in each event. However if two or more horses are entered in the same event, you must designate which horse is your point horse for the day.
To qualify for high point, rider must compete in at least three events.
The age of the rider as of the first event of the series will determine the age group the rider will ride in for that entire year.
The contestant or the contestant’s legal guardian must sign all entries and release form before entering the arena.
A five second penalty will be taken for each barrel that is knocked down, two seconds in all pole bending events, and 2 seconds for down jumps. Any prop knocked down will result in a no time (ex. flag race/potato race).
All down barrels, poles, jumps, or props will disqualify you from any sidepot jackpot.
There will be two officials watching each event. Their decision is final.
In the event of a tie in sidepot jackpot, the monies will be divided equally.
In the event of a tie in an age group event. Contestants have a choice to flip a coin or run a tie breaker event. The points will remain the same. The event selected will be at the discretion of the judge.
Excessive punishment or inhumane treatment of any horse at any time shall result in disqualification for the duration of the Gymkhana. VHV Ranch will determine what constitutes excessive punishment or inhumane treatment. NO EXCEPTIONS.
VHV Ranch is the final authority on any discrepancies that may arise.
There will be no riding double in any arena unless a signed release for both riders is on file.
